Place: Rerrick Parish Kirkyard, Rerrick, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland, UK
Individual Note: There is a John McMurray born "about 1697" in Kelton (LDS IGI records) who marries a Miss Afleck of Rerrick parish. Could they be the same person?? Could John be an ancestor of James McMurray the first known McMurray in this tree?? James would be born in the 1760s or 1770s perhaps.
Source - Rerrick Parish Kirkyard monument inscription:
Inscribed by James Bell, a researcher for Gerry Field, October 2001
Front: "Here lyes the body of John McMurry in Russcaral, who departed this life the 3rd of March 1759, aged 55 years and 6 months." [so born Aug/Sept 1703]
"Also John Thomson, their son, who died at Palnackie 30th Dec. 1823, aged 74 years."
This second entry probably refers to parents on the reverse of the gravestone: John Thomson & Janet McMurray. "Russcaral" is almost certainly Rascarrel, in the parish of Rerrick. Palnackie is another village in the parish of Rerrick.
Reverse: "Also the body of John Thomson, who died at Nether Hazelfield, 1st March 1794, aged 71 years.
And Jannet McMurrat his spouse, who died 3rd April 1794, aged 60 years."
The inscriber notes: 'It's not clear if these people fit in to your family tree'. Were John and Jannet siblings? LDS IGI records show that Jannet and her husband John Thom(p)son had several children: Mary, William, John and James.

Dear Michael, I'm interested in Mary Ann Tweedie, who was my great great grandmother, and lived near Dundrennan. Her father was John, but I don't know much else about her, except that they are both buried at Dundrennan Abbey. Look forward to hearing from you. Richard
Re - Mary Ann Tweedie
Dear Michael,
Thanks for sharing such well researched info.
She is the same person. Mary Ann and Ernest Morgan Davies' daughter was Constance, married to Robert Smalley Halliwell, 30.6.1898 - my gt grandparents.
Cheers,
Richard
