Dear Michael, Sorry I haven't got back to you before.

Thank you very much for looking up Peter and Euphemia's marriage. It looks like they were cousins.George Amos, Jane Todds husband had a sister named Agnes- Euphemia parents were George Turnbull and Agnes Amos. Peter and Euphemis retired to Scotland in about 1903 according to the newspaper reporting of Anthony Todd Amos' death in 1904.

Whow What a prompt answer and what a lot of information.
No, I'm not a direct descendant. Harry Rome Stutchbury married my great-grandaunt (my great-grandmother's younger sister), Emily Biggs. Really I would just like to know whether they had any children. As they didn't marry until after the 1901 census I will have to wait a while to find them on the next census -possibly with offspring.
I have Harry Rome Stutchbury born 1859 in Barnsbury. His father Henry was born about 1826 in Middlesex, probably the son of Henry Rome Stutchbury and Mary Read.

Sorry, I made a mistake there. Off course they had offspring - at least 2 daughters. I got muddled up with another Biggs sister.
So I'd like to find out what happened to the offspring.
I can't really go into Harry's ancestors in too much detail as I am not directly related and my family tree is already bursting at the seams. But I would like to know more about the more recent Stutchburys so I may well contact Geoff Stutchbury. Thanks again.

The 1891 Henry is not found. [May be there but not transcribed properly: The Stutchbury name can be spelt as Stutchbury or Stuchbury or misspelt in the original. Modern transcribers have difficulty recognising it, making it difficult to search for, "Stakbery" for example. I've searched many variants but no luck so far.

Hello there,
I will fill you in
A few years ago my Dad told me that his grandfather was the illegitimate son of Lord Shackley of conderton (ie Robert Eli Tustin 1856), and that the groom (servant )was paid to marry the woman.
We know for sure that Elizabeth Tate had money from shares in Goernment stock when Robert died. When she died, the money was divided between her children.
When they married his father's occupation was 'gentleman', but was dead already.

All I suppose I want for my Dad's sake is to establish if the tale is probably true or not,
I've got him on the census in 1871 at boarding school in Cheshire.
For years I did nothing as i came to a dead end, then i retraced my steps and realised that there is a Lord Shakerley and family who are
from the Cheshire area.
Have looked at the census records to see if there are any servants with my ancestors names as a wild shot as well but no luck.
I think I need to join a Family History society for Cheshire and maybe try to trace those shares
