Note for:   William Hastie,   ABT 1733 -          Index

Individual Note:
Husband of a Helen Carruthers. Could he have died before 1768 and she remarried John McVitie? Or are these two separate Helen Carruthers?

Note for:   Helen Carruthers,   ABT 1738 -          Index

Individual Note:
According to a tree fragment submitted to Latter Days Saints, Helen Caruthers b c1838 Kirkmichael, Dumfriesshire m. c1757 William Hastie. She has children 1758 - 1764. Now, I have a direct ancestor, Helen Caruthers b 1837 - d 1805 Longbridgemoor, Torthorwald, Dumfriesshire. She married John McVitty in 1768 in Dalton. So I wonder William Hastie might have died and she remarried my John McVitty.

Hi Michael, My ancestor, Helen Hastie (born 1796) was your Thomas's daughter. She married James Kennedy c1823 and they lived in Kirkmichael, Dumfries. I have allowed you access to my tree: as you will see, the Hastie name has been carried on through the generations of my family, still being used as a middle name as late as 1940. Hope you find it interesting Regards, Sharon Kennedy.
