Significantly she is also from outside the county. Is she a relative? Is she the oldest child perhaps? If so, she was probably born in Romaldkirk, North Yorkshire. But why living separately?

Joseph and Mary lived at Crossthwaite, Hunderthwaite and moved to Arkingarthdale where Joseph worked as a lead miner. They later returned to live at Middleside near Middleton.

Joseph was killed in an accident in a lead mine.

Mary his widow was still residing at Middleside at the time of her death, she was buried on the 12th June 1819 aged 53 years.
