A personal website of McMurray ancestors from Dumfrieshire has an Alexander McMurray b. 1844 Holywood, Dumfries, Scotland marrying:
"1873 in Rerrick, Kirkcudbright, Scotland to Margaret Beattie"
I wonder if this is a mistake and that the marriage is really our Alexander McMurray?? A visit back to GROS 1881 Census might shed light. NO, 1871 census shows him single and he died in 1872.

OLD NOTES - mistakenly thought he married Kate.
The existance of this person is based solely on some family history not es left be Florence Stutchbury. She talks about Kate Belton's family be ing called "Kirkbride" and then talks about a husband Leonard Curtis and two other children whose names she forgot. Kate was certainly called K irkbride and a widow in 1901 so perhaps she remarried after this. If so here are two POSSIBLY related 1881 and 1901 census entries that MAY be him:
