This is supposed to be the father of Samuel Hawkridge b c1827 York and died 1852 York registration area, (though he comments the relationship is not confirmed).

MJC note: After research, I think the relationship is unlikely. This John Hawkridge has 3 children who appear both in census data and in All Saints, Derby, Derbyshire christening records. Significantly, Samuel, of similar age, does not appear in the christening records. Note also the later communiction below. I have therefore detached him from this family. The family is now here for reference only.

Have been doing the Harrison family for a few years now..The marriage certificate of Ellen to Samuel Hawkridge shows his father as John whose profession looks like Clothing Wears.The Whites directory of1837 and the Pigots directories of 1834 and 1841 show a John Hawkridge as a draper and tailor in Knaresborough about 18 miles from York.Unfortunately he does not appear on either the 1841 or 1851 census.
