Individual Note:

Jenny (Jones?) Belton first appears in the 1861 England Census in Edmonton, now a suburb of London. No trace of her birth yet found on LDS parish registers or FreeBMD Civil Index of Births. She is shown as an unmarried "sister". Normally this would be to the Head of household. In this instance there is no head but an "Occupier", James Willats. It is difficult to see how they could be directly related. Another possibiltiy is that she is sister of Thomas Belton, in the same house and this is assumed here for now tough doubtful.

A further possibility is that she is sister of married Nancy Martin. Nancy is wife of Aaron Martin. In 1871 Jenny is living in their household in Liverpool.

She appears to have made a living as a lady's companion, settling in Lancashire.

James Willats appears in 1861 England Census as the "Occupier" of a house in which Thomas Seares Belton and his wife Ann live. Nothing remarkable in that, but in 1881 an Amy S(arah) Willats is living with Thomas Belton as his neice.

Is James related to Thomas Belton? Yes, he appears to be a brother-in-law:

Further research on James Willats indicates his wife Elizabeth was nee Norris ... the same purported family name of Thomas Belton's wife Ann according to family story [source - ganddau. Florence Edith Cummings nee Stutchbury]. The obvious but circumstantial conclusion is that Elizabeth and Ann were sisters.
