Some connection??

".BARNES .. The club is the successor of the Old Manor House called Barn Elms which gave the town its name. It is surrounded by many stately trees that gave the manor its name and within these Elms was a giant plane that was 105ft high and was believed to be the tallest in England.

The story of the house goes back to before the days of Elizabeth, which was the Golden Age and it was the home of her Secretary of State, Sir Francis Walsingham, who kept an army of spies to protect the Queen and entertained her here three times before he came into poverty of his own hand.

Late it became the home of the Pepy's Diary. During the 18th century it was for a time the home of witty and ugly John Heidegger, who was a Zurich pastor's son and made his fortune as George II's Master of the Revels. It was he here that he entertained his friend Handel. Early in the 19th century it belonged to
Sir Lancelot Shadwell
who was the last Vice-Chancellor of England, he used to entertain the Varsity Crews here after the Boat Race. In 1884 the Raneleigh Club was founded and today it is one of the most exclusive country clubs in the world."
