There is only one Minnie, born Edmonton and that is Minnie Monk. The DOB is right and the surname, Monk, fits beatifully the Florence Stutchbury story below, whether true or a fancy. George Monk or Monck was the first Duke of Albemarle 1608-70 (ennobled 7 July 1660) but the title became extinct upon the death of Christopher second duke of Albemarle, his son, 16 87. George Monk was commander in chief of the English forces in the kingdom of Scotland, was the most considerable instrument of the restoration of king Charles. His regiment was later renamed the Coldstream Guards. No record of a "Viscount Coldstream" though it is possible it may have been a title passed to a yonger son.

In 1891 she married Frederick Joseph McBride.

1901 Census: As appears as Kate Kirkbride, widow, living at 17, ?Santle y Street, Lambeth with children Tom, 7, and Edith.5, both born in Brixton, Surrey, as well as Annie Belton, 70, mother, widow, born Finchley - must be Ann "Norris", so father Thomas Sear(e)s Belton is dead now.

According to niece Florence Stuchbury, Kate was "very delicate but had three children, Fred, Tom and Edie. ... Tommy, too, was very delicate and rejected for the army in the last (Second) war but spent the whole war as a St. John's Ambulance man, serving in Southampton harbour.

Leonard Curtis, Edie's husband, was a detective serving the White Star liners. ... [They lived in White Chimneys] Beaulieu ... on the west side of Southampton. Auntie Kate's family, by the way were named "Kirkbride". I wrote to them at the end of the war but the then occupier of White Chimneys, Beaulieu ... had tried every means of contacting them without success ... I heard no more.

There were two Curtis children ... but I have forgotten their names."

Dear Michael, It seems that we have some relatives in common. How is Edith and Kate related to you? Was Frederick Ediths father, Kate's husband? Look forward to hearing from you. By the way Frederick was my Great Great Grandfather 's brother. Regards, Stuart.

1901 Census: Edith Allison, married to Reuben, is living at 55, Stockwell Road, Lambeth, London.

==================
Source - Florence Cummings nee Stutchbury:

Florence Stuchbury wrote towards the end of her life: "Aunty Edie and Uncle Reuben, by the way, had two children, Edie and Gilbert. Edie, I think I told you, died at 14. ... Gilbert, 11 years my senior, was very conceited, very selfish and capable of being quite cruel He did all he could to terrify me when I was small. He never married, retired from the Rangoon Civil Service when he was 35 and spent the rest of his life gambling on the Stock Exchange and going for 14 and 15 mile walks in a day in order to keep fit and live to be 100. He lived, possibly still does in Bognor.

As Uncle Reuben died at 99 and 10 months when I was 20 and he [Gilbert] was on leave in Bognor, he wanted me to marry him and go back with him to Rangoon - I've never understood why - most emphatically NO

I had a very dear great aunt, Annie Belton, who used to stay in Hove. and take me out and about in the summer. She and her husband, another Thomas D(B?)elton, R.A., were the only people I've ever known who had a daughter named "Pansy". After her husband died, Auntie Annie always went without fail, to the opening day of the Royal Academy. I used to be most interested, when I was little, because she used to get off buses backwards, the result of what is now called arthritis. She paid her last visit on her 21st birthday, because she was born on the 29th of February. After that she could not manage buses.

Residence:
     Date:   1851
     Place:   6 Tower Street, Islington, Middlesex, UK

Individual Note:
     Ann married Thomas Seares Belton. Her maiden name was Norris according to grand daughter Florence Edith Stutchbury - there is also circumstantial census information that suggests this is correct. And in strong but not complete confirmation, in 1857 an Ann Elizabeth Norris marries a Thomas Belton in the Islington registration area.

I obtained the marriage certificate in May 2010. It shows the father of Ann Elizabeth Norris as Henry Norris, which bears out previous guess from census records.

==============
Source - Grand daughter Florence Stuchberry:

    claims that "she was of French huguenot stock" (not substantiated - probably based on the surname).

Not sure where the "Norris" maiden name came from - treat as dubious.
