Individual Note:
Source - Kevin Burg, Personal communication via Genes Reunited, Nov 2007:

Hi Michael,

I have recently put a Paris Stutchbury (1904 - 1950) on a distant branch of my tree. I have no record of any parents, but from BD&M records, it seems that he married a May Taylor in Petersham NSW in 1929. May Taylor (1906 - 1976) was the daughter of Albert Taylor (1875 - 1963?) and Lily Burg (1882 - 1960).
Could this be the same Paris Stutchbury as yours?

Regards,
Kevin

[Bilsdale itself is a side valley off the River Rye in the North York Moors, not a town]

BILSDALE-MIDCABLE:

"This parish lies on the east side of Ryedale, stretching from six to 12 miles north of Helmsley, and includes the hamlets of Chop Yat (Chop-gate), Crossett, Kirkham, Raisdale, Urra, and Fangdale Beck. Lord Feversham is owner and lord of the manor. The area of the parish is 21,104 acres. Of this, 5,000 acres consist of meadow or pasture land; 1,500 acres are arable land, producing oats, barley, turnips, &c.; and the remainder consists of rivers, roads, and extensive moors. The rateable value is £4,305, and the population 677.

Bilsdale-Midcable is a corruption of "Media Capella," middle or midway chapel, probably the ancient chapel-of-ease in the adjoining parish of Harome."

Helmsley may be right for bridegroom's area, not sure where Earby would fall. If right, she is either Ann Barker or Ann Hugill. She would be very young to get married thour and first recorded child is not until 1855 -56 - Discounted for now.

Individual Note:
Note: I've identified Mary's husband as William Davidson Priestman soley on the basis of marriage indices and correlation with later census data; but new information from Andrew Saunders suggests this is incorrect and that she instead married Joseph Bennison on 20/11/1884 at Chop Gate. She *might* have married twice but the ages of oldest and youngest child suggests otherwise

Hello Michael,

Mary Ann Garbutt is the second wife of my Great Great Grandfather. I allow access to my family tree but I can't give you any more about the Garbutt family.

Good luck in your own research,
Regards, Andrew Saunders.

Hello again Michael,

I recently was told by another correspondent that Mary Ann Garbutt was christened on 13/10/1861 and had married a Joseph Bennison on 20/11/1884 at Chop Gate. This conflicted with what I already had recorded and so I went back to research.

It turns out that the Mary Ann Garbutt who married my ancestor, Arthur Richardson, was born in 1865 at Bilsdale, and not 1862. Consequently, I have needed to revise my family tree somewhat. I trust that I have not inconvenienced you too much.

Bt the way, that other correspondent is Anne Rees (in Genes as Margaret Brotton). If you have not already done so, you may wish to contact her as she appears to have a lot more information about the Garbutt families.

Rose (1890) was my aunt and Jane (1865) and Mary (1862) my grandmother`s sisters. What is your connection?
Regards Anne
